Default Tie Rod help

Went to Audi today to get a head to toe inspection fo the new 01.5 I just bought with 45500 miles. They said the car was in outstanding shape...EXCEPT.... of course...

The service rep said that I will need a left front tie rod replaced soon. Had them show me a tiny bit of play when pusing on the tire. He related that they usually change both at the same time.. and then do an alignment as well.

That this was considered regular wear and tear and wouldn't be covered under the CPO warranty?!

Total cost.. $680?

Any comments or help would be appreciated before I spend the cash in a few weeks!

Mike

PS.. If anyone lives in the CT area and has a great dealership / shop to go to let me know!

Ya same thing with me...left tie rod on my '01 A4. Quoted me $650 for the both of them, I told them to suck off. Getting it done very cheap soon by the guy I always go to. Look to get it done somewhere else if not covered under warrenty.
