Default Top Speed?

Already did a search with no results.
I know that the top speed of a stock B5 is around 145 limited by the stock comp. Isnt there a way to unlimit this? If so, what is the unlimited top speed of a B5?

I think the top speed of a B5 S4 without the speed limiter is around 175mph. I don't think anyone has an "official" slip on that though. Most modified S4's have 1/4 mile time slips only.

I was talkin to someone and they said they had theirs up to 160. I proceded to inform them that the top speed was 143 limited. They said that they had the computer programmed to unlimit that but now they had it set up to limit the top speed to 125. Does this sound right for a stock computer or would the car have to be chipped to perform these functions?

in my mustang i was able to unlimit the govenor with only a hypertech tuner and then i limited back down to 120 after i set my top speed record at 155 before i backed down. So he might have been able to do that iwth the vag-com but i dont know for sure. I also think that when u buy tires they set ur speed limiter to the tire ratings so he could have also done it taht way.

Given the amount of stock HP/TQ, weight, coefficient of drag, and top gear ratio, on a flat it would probably pull to 150 ~ 155 (if you can find a long enough flat).

With chip tuned for 93 octane, I'd say probably 165 MPH.

If it's cold outside and you're going slightly down hill, I'm sure you could pull into the 170's.

yea its a really heavy car. My guess is u have no idea what would cause a car to leave the ground. the only production car i am aware that had teh ability to leave the ground was the Bugartti Veryon which left the ground at around 220 mph. And it is around the same weight only a couple hundred lighter. This actually cause them to add some weight to it. And it was becuas eof the bottom of the car was so smooth it acted as a wing.

It's not the weight of the car but the aerodynamic forces that matter. Basically, if the car's aerodynamics direct the air in such a way as to generate downforce, it will stay on the ground. If weight itself was a determining factor, 747's would never be able to take off... Their wings and flaps combined with the specific speed add up to the magic of flight.
