Default Transmission Issue

Not an expert mechanic but think i just dropped my transmission the other night. I have a 01 S4 automatic, heard a thud last night and the car is stuck in 4th gear. I still have reverse but when i try to use the tip tronic to manuel go through the gears nothing chages. No warning lights have gone on, as i said before i am not an expert and i have never lost a transmission before so thought someone could help. Is my transmission done??? how much is it going to cost to replace???? Thank you

Have a Audi dealer look at it, might get more expensive thatn you want it to be.

well just got the call back from my mechanic. seems like there is a leak under the passenger side area. the tranmission module is underwater and has gone bad. he says they need to replace the module and fix the leak. all at a cool $2100. does this seem high or about right for this type of work. says they have to order the part from texas. should i get a second estimate???

get a second estimate...yea these cars are spendy to repair but that seems way high for a new module and a leak

E mail Vast performance or JHM. Vast performance Got me a second trans computer CHIPPED for 900$ you probably can get a used unit from them for cheaper. But I don't know what kind of leak would put your computer under water and you not have any sign of this on the driver side.

Check to see if its coming from up top by the fire wall or under the car

I would try to find a used module. You should try Shokan: http://www.shokan.com/. They are amazing when it comes to finding used (or sometimes even new) Audi parts.

Good luck!
