thats a really good idea! I have mine wired into the fuse box and the cord run up through the headliner, coming out just to the right of my mirror, where the V1 resides.
My buddy wired it in the same way in his Mercedes ML320 but also added a simple switch out of the way somewhere near his knees. This works well.
If theres a cop behind you and can see your radar its convenient to be able to shut it off without reaching up.
If you figure it out please PM me!

I hardwired my Escort 8500 to my S5 mirror.
- Found a fused hardware kit on eBay.
- Removed the mirror spine cover and used a Dremmel to cut a small notch.
- Tapped the black for (-) and white for (+) which is a switched 12V. You should test with a meter on your car to verify.
Works great, no wires on the dash or run through the trim to fuse box.

I put it to one of the wire in map lights but the one i used always has power so i still need to turn it on and off, I just don't have the wire running to the cig. lighter. I believe there is a wire in the map light that is one when the key is in accessory or on, but not sure which it is. sorry

I have mine run to the fuse box as well, first thing I did since the Valentine came with the hardwire kit. Downside is it is ALWAYS on, but I have a few extra rocker switches up with the soldering iron, I may try my hand at a switch. Though I have found I only get pulled over with it off

Two problems with above the mirror. They can still hear it (cops around me don't turn off radar after they stop you, so its still going off), and it has a harder time seeing through the tint band, so you get less coverage. I keep mine drivers side of the mirror, just below the tint band. Long range, no interference, and they still cant see it. Also the body of the unit and lidar unit is shielded from the sun somewhat, since the angle of the tint band and placement of mount means that anything other than straight ahead or slightly up from straight ahead gets blocked by the tint band, while allowing unfiltered though any lidar signal.

Was it hard to do?

As mentioned above, I tapped the black and white wires for a switched 12V...see 3rd photo. Still working great and very clean install.
