First time Audi owner here-2004 S4. I don't see too many people with the V8 engine so I'm hoping there are some in the shadows.

My very simple question is this:
What RPM's are you guys running at 80, 90mph?

It feels I'ma little high in the rev's being this beast is a V8 and all.

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

 

At 80-90mph im just a tad below 3K rpm. (in 6th gear mind you)

 

I noticed this as well. Not too many people talk about the 04-05 S4's... Maybe because they still cost too much for most on this board? And you can get the TT S4's for low to mid 20's... idk

 

Im sure that is one factor, but the main reason is the tuneable nature of the B5 S4, not to mention the gas mileage aspect.

 

Ok, thanks for the reply Audilover04. I did a few calcualtions and we are both correct. The Triptronic has a taller ratio than the manual. How do you like that Milltek exhaust?

 

And what's the gas mileage for the B5 S4's? I'm just scared to get one since they're TT'd and cost more to maintain...

 

I have a GIAC chip and 007dv's and I get around 20 in the city and 24-26 on the Hwy.

 

clemsen, I love the milltek!!! Couldnt be happier. Its got a nice grumble at start up that can turn some heads, and the sound under hard acceleration is pure sex. Also, the power gains are quite noticeable

 

How does it sound at regular 3k shifts under normal acceleration? Modified exhaust's are illegal here so I would need to get something that looks stock, and almost sounds stock until I get on it some more you know?

 

it seems odd at first, but once you are around 3k or more, you always have max torque. this thing has a constant accelerationall the way up to 165. once you hit the limiter which is 10mph over what the books say, your rpm are around 6600.
