Vs. a 2007 Sti?
so this guy at school just had his mom buy him a brand new 2007 sti, and all he does is brag about it. both of us want to race each other, but i wanna increase my confidence. all my friends are telling me that ill beat him, atleast up to 100 which is probably as far as well go. his is stock for now, and im stage 2 (no dp's). the only thing i fear is that when i reach 4th gear and above my clutch has a couple hiccups and slips now and then. launching, 1st 2nd and 3rd are all fine tho. Oh, and fyi, this is his first manual car so he isnt too hot with the stick.. could anyone tell me some possible outcomes?
Could go either way. I had great luck vs STis at Stage II (100%) and I'm sure I would just waste them now (them being un or just slightly modded). Haven't had the oppurtunity since I've been stage III...I also know how to get the most our of my launch and when it counts (I ussually row the gears with authority) ...I would tend to think that even up he might just have you by a bit...until over 100 - then he is yours!
Wow a subject I can really contrubute to
The 07's stock are NOT as fast as the 04's or 05's. But get any STi a tune and they become deadly. A stage 2 (tune and Turbo Back Exhaust) STi can run mid to high 12's in the quarter mile if they know how to launch (that does NOT mean 7k RPM clutch dumps either). But thats just it. You really need to know how to drive to manage that. I think if the kid is a moron you got it in the bag. Thres alot of stage 2 STi's running 14's also due to driver stupidity.

Go to Edmunds.com look up the specs on his car figure out how much whp he's running, figure out how much you're running. And there you go that's who wins. Wow, this forum never suprises me. [:-]

theres alot more too it than that.. weight, gearing, aerodynamics, tire height, drivetrain loss, etc. thats why i asked
you should win, and if anything, after 100 you would kill him, because you have longer gearing 1st-3rd and then 4-6th are short as hell and made for higher speeds and great acceleration. But either way, you should have him.
