weird boosting problem
so i just finished replacing my driver side cv axle and of coarse something else has to grow wrong. when i go wot i completely loose boost from 4-4.5k rpm and the traction control light blips on when the boost dies. it recovers after 4.5k but bounces around peak boost(kinda like a rev limiter). im thinking its some weird boost leak or if it has anything to do with traction that the guy who did the cv screwed up royally. in any case its a real pain and im really hoping its nothing serious. what do yall think?
my guess is some sort of sensor, maybe an abs sensor? i dont think its a boost leak since the traction light comes on. thats weird. i have no idea. id take it back asap for an inspection. maybe a vacuum hose popped off
only problem with taking it back is that its a buddy of mine and he went for a ride with me and is just as stumped. im honestly thinking the cv was screwed though because the traction light blips on and im guessing its some safety feature that cuts the engine power when traction is lost because it pushed through much more easily when i turned it off.
Did you have the half-shaft replaced or just the joint/boot?
Did you scan for codes? It sounds like the ESP is triggering since the traction control light comes on when it cuts power. The lateral acceleration sensor could be bad, there is a code for this, see if it's being thrown. This sensor also needs to be zeroed/calibrated, you can try zeroing it with a VAG first to see if that helps.

well originally i got the full shaft from jhm but my retard friend broke it so he got another one elsewhere i really wouldn't pull it past him to have fucked this up. i did run codes but i just pulled the same ones its been pulling for years which is apparently a glitch because ive fixed it. p1113 and p1131. internal resistance too high on bank one and two.
thanks for the responses guys. im really hoping he f'ed this up because im still paying him for it and have no money because my car has sucked up every pay check this summer haha

he said the ball bearings fell apart when he tried to put it in. his dad owns the shop and is a much better mechanic. i really wish i had a lift of my own haha.
im going over there tomorrow to calibrate the abs sensor and make sure everything is still tight and in place.

interesting new development.
i switched my GIAC back to stock and the problem went away. so my new guess is maybe that my stock tune just cant handle 17 psi anymore. it was fine for about a year running stage 2, then i put the down pipes on which arnt your average (gives a crap ton of torque and about 45 hp), and they were fine for a god long time but i guess it just decided to die on me or something. just weird that its right after the cv replacement and that im getting a traction control light.
what do you guys think?
