Default What can you tell me about GIAC X

Thinking about getting a GIAC X from one of the guys on the site. Done some research and found out a lot of goodies on it. Now I want to hear from a personal experience of people who has it in their car. I have a bone stock S4 quattro with tip tranny. Would just swapping ecus would do the trick or do i need to get TCU also? Something about TIP going in limp mode or something. Anyways... any help and info would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't have a GIAC or any other chip, but I've heard that a lot of guys like GIAC because they can retune later after an upgrade.

I have a GIAC tune...and I love it. It's pretty "in your face" when you hit your boost threshold, but I kind of like that. Sort of makes it feel like a roller caster. I had an MTM tune on my last S to compare it to. The GIAC is more aggressive and has a less smooth torque curve, but will offer more top end HP than the MTM. I believe it still offers more in the top end than APR as well, but I can't verify that...haven't looked at APRs newer stuff in a while. You can definitely tell the MTM tune is meant to distribute peak HP over a larger range. GIAC gives it to you in one fell swoop at about 3k rpm.
