To start off... my girlfriend is in despreate need of a new car.. She loves the s4. I want her to have something reliable. This was close to us, I see alot of people wanting a 01.5+ she found this one today and we went and test drove it today. Besides needed windshild washer fluid and oil change, I dont see anything wrong iwth it. The guy buys them at auction and this one was just a lease turn in. Is there a way to know if the turbos are alright?

Can someone find out if it is in fact 01.5 ? I didnt know anything about s4's when I drove it.

Hey welcome to the forum. Hate to tell you but Audi's aren't exactly the most reliable, especially S4's! People tend to beat on them since they are so much fun to drive.

I seem to remember if the car has been built after October of 2000 it is a 2001.5

I doubt its an 01.5, has 00-01 badges all around (including guages and steering wheel, and i highly doubt someone would go out of their way to swap those out jsut cuz they like the look better...)

 

Alrigt... so what is the big difference between 01.5 and say the one we are looking at? What makes the 01.5 so much better? I'm trying to learn as much and as fast as I can.

that is not a 01.5, and be prepared for turbos to go in 10-30k mi.

 

Well... on the thing it says you can buy a 4 year warrenty for 1785$ or something like that. I am pretty sure it would cover it so I wasnt going to worrie about it to much, deffinatly going to ask though.

 

some warranties dont cover turbos, especially if it has been chipped. With a $6k repair u can bet they will check ur car out. But i would def. get that if they do.

 

Right now thats the deciding factor, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys.
