Default What do you think of this S8?

This car is about 4 hours away from me. It is supposedly a one owner car and dealer serviced. What should I be looking for when I go to look at it? Same issues as the A8? Control arms, trans, timing belt/water pump or course?

find a friend or just take the car to audi service so u can hook it to VAGcom.
easiest way to find past...

also, transmission can be a question, belts, pumps should be changed promptly, unless your mechanic says that its new.
dont trust owner about servicing...everybody lies (house m.d. credit)

as far as I know, no strange noises should be there, so take basics and go to vagcom

A VAG will read everything from the cars computer and the price and the car looks solid I wouldn't mind owning that car.

So VAG is like the OBD but computer based? I have done a little research on it. Do these cars still connect to an OBDII scanner? Can you buy the software for VAG and install on your computer?

My father has one, has since '04 or '05. Good car. Kind of a pig, but it's over 2 tons. Handles well for a big car. He had something go in the transmission that is apparently common and cost him something like 4k. Timing belt was very expensive. I think his has like 90k miles. Just be ready for maintenance if you do buy it.

Did you run a Carfax? Looks like your S8 is also on ebay and failed the autocheck. Said it's been in a wreck.

Have you checked to see if it has a salvage title? If not, I would at least inquire about the wreck before driving 4 hours to check it out.

Good Luck!
