Audi says I have a faulty Stop slow Purge valve (Something like that), which is somewhere in the emissions system. They are fixing it under warranty but I was curious what it does. Does it prevent surging on the Turbos?? I thought the DV's did that.

Forgive my ignorance and I look forward to someone of infinite knowledge explaining this

its a friend of the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation system) the purge valve is linked to the carbon canister and dumps unused fuel in there to prevent damage to the catalyst then recirculates the wasted fuel back into the throttle body hence giving better miles per gallon which is a load of bolicks because the system causes more problems than saving mpg because of carbon build up in the throttle body parts and more money to the dealerships for renewing parts, just a very basic how it works
