WHEELS DECISION
I have a smal dilema, I just bought a 2000 s4 and I'm in the market for some wheels.I currently have 18" on my 99 a4 with 225-40-18 I was going to go with 19"on the s4 but w/the road conditions in ny I don't think thats nota good idea. What do you guys think and also I noticed on the forum that some one used 245-40-18 on their carwouldn't this size cause rubbing issues.
More likely than not it would rub... i personally wouldnt go above 235... some have gotten away with slightly bigger..but if you do youll prob have to roll the fenders..
i think 19" depends on the wheel...some look good on the b5 with 19"..some look too big. (generally if it has a lip its ok, if it doesnt it looks big..but thats a generalization) But only really you or someone else from your area can answer if you think its a bad idea with the road conditions..are they bad enough you think you might bend one of the wheels? if you think so, then go 18..

Im a pretty cautious driver w a map in my headof most of the potholes in my area( thats what you have to dowhen you have low profile tiresin ny) what im mostly concerned w/is handling and comfort issues compared to 18" wheels. Don't have suspension yet, but plan on getting coilovers,I have koni on my a4
Well im am big on rims, I hate the wrong ones on the wrong cars and it always bugs me when a friend buys the wrong rims, I think that most 19s(90%) look way too big on the S4 and as for the road 19s will give you a nice rough ride but I think that the 18s look th ebest on the S4 thats the way im going with mine when I get some more money
Im the same way when it comes to rims, when customers want to order the wrong rim I usually try to persuade them to get something else.It takes me a long time to get rims for myself because im very picky when it comes to rims,I have a good sense on what the car will look like with the wheels and right now the only wheel I like isa 19" which i know im not going to be happy with.If I get 18" I would love to get tires bigger than 225-40-18 but like I said before Im sure theres a rubbing issue with any other size.
if you get 19...you shoudl be able to do 235 width no problems...once you go above that you will prob get some rubbing.
what rim are you looking at and ill give you my opinion if it will be to big
