Wheels and tires
another topic i stumbled upon. weight of rims. does anyone knows what is the weight of a stock rim on B5 S4? besides matching the bolt pattern and offset, it is very important to get as light of a wheel as possible. especially true when u go plus sizing the rims. most of the replicas rims are heavy comparing to originals, and most of the cheap rims too. that will not only make your car slower, it will result in worsened braking, handling, and fuel economy. i went through this with my 1999 Jetta, when i went from 16's stock to 17 aftermarket. http://www.victoriatire.com/wheels.h...099-04&size=17
i got no name ones, and boy they sucked. my average mileage went down by more then a mile per gallon, car lost speed (at least .5 sec) and where one of the reasons i crashed (and totalled) the car. my brakes locked (even with ABS) on a perfectly fine dry road, while doing emergency avoiding maneuver.....
this is one of the reasons i am not really in the mood of changing my stock rims.
i looked at a number of different rims, and could not find the ones i really like. although stock wheels from RS4 look very nice. but the ones for sale are replicas, and they do not tell the weight of the rims. racing rims are lighter, but for the most part do not look good - too open, and too obvious.
flashy rims are too heavy. anyone knows anything in the middle?
second question is tires. looked at many. my stock Pirellis P6000 are not bad, but faaaaaaar from good when it comes to performance. i had to change 3 of them due to bubbles they developed on side walls (nice NY roads). but they are preatty quiet, and soft riding.
Potenza S-03 are the ones that everyone reccomends - but they are strictly summer (no snow whatsoever), and tread is only 220 (most of Max performance tires are). i think you can get something better for everyday driving with similar handling capabilities, but all year long use. the one i found so far where again Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. they may not be best "looking" tires, but numbers and reviews are very impressive.... decent price too...
what do you think?

You can look up the weights yourself at the link below, but there are a few stock wheels for the B5 S4. You'll need to know which brand and model name wheels they are.
