Default Where is the starter located? B5 S4

I'm trying to quickly find out where my starter is located on my 2001 S4. It finally died today but I want to check and make sure. Please point me in the right location.

Thanks!

passenger side of the engine. you can barely see it from under the car. both bolts to remove it you have to getfrom the transmission side. you can see the trans where the housing is flared when you have it up in the air. you have to remove your front clip to get it out.. two bolts from the back and the wiring harness...

^ basically its a PITA and the dumbest location to ever put the thing in all the way under the engine and crammed in there.

No, a cadillac northstar engine where they put the starter under the intake manifold is the dumbest place to put a starter.

This does not sound like fun. Anyone know of a DIY out there?

if you know how to take off the front clip then thats all you need. two bolts from the tranny and the rest from the front clip.. piece of cake once you get that off...
