Default Whiplash

2002 S4 (stage 2).....let me first defend myself by saying I'm not new to stick and I'm not new to this car. With that out of the way, I can't figure out how to open it up off the line and shift from first to second without the wife complaining in the passenger's seat that she's getting whiplash! Normal daily driving, smooth as hell, no issues. First gear is just geared so low and goes so quick I can't get into second without a significant drop in the nose. Any obvious technique I'm missing or possible mods (short shifter, transmission stabilizer, coilovers...) that might help this situation?

Stock the shifting isnt very percise, the car definitly takes a little time to learn how to drive smoothly. Motormounts, transmission mounts, snub mount, DTS, Short Shifter, diff mount, tranny fluid flush are all things that will help and make it better. If your transmission is starting to feel the miles and the synchros are wearing out it could get really notchy, even eventually lock you out of gear, in which case you would need a rebuild.

go to a road close to your house but kinda outta the way and do a couple 5000rpm launches and the tranny will be outta there in no time, youll prolly loose 1st gear first and when that happens just take off in second go home and call the warranty company lol
