Window problems...
I was rolling up my driver side rear window and it sounded like some crap fell and tumbled down into the bottom of the door. Now it wont roll up and has to be pushed up by hand, it also wiggles it's way down while driving, which is a real pain (especially when it's 20 degrees and snowing).
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the regulator is shot, which sucks because Audi replaced it under an extended warranty less than 1.5 years back. Has anyone replaced a regulator? The Bentley isn't very helpful on this one, especially on removing the door panel.
I've only found two screws on the panel itself, anyone have any advice on getting started? Source for parts (audi charges $175 for a regulator...ridiculous)
Any help is appreciated.

get the regulator from like brian at avalon, ECS, carson@riverside, youll prolly find it cheaper there.
As for the door.... just find all the screws and then pry out slowly in about 3inch spaces. After getting the panel off it shouldnt be difficult at all.. i havent done it in my S before but have done it in other automobiles.

heh, its not that easy on the Audi, I have done many other cars, easy fix. But the Audi.......I won't touch it, the ENTIRE door frame has to come off.......meaning the part that surrounds the window when the window is up (window frame?), then you have to drill out the rivets that hold the regulator in place, and re-rivet it with large rivets......PITA!!!!
hmmm, sounds like a ton of fun.
On that note, I'm thinking of going back to the dealer and complaining a little bit about the fact that the window doesn't even get rolled down very often and it's now broken again less than a year and a half later.
I heard it was a pain, but I didn't know it was that bad. Anyone have a time estimate? Also, I have been checking the usual parts folks like ECS and Avalon, but nobody seems to carry what I need.
Thanks in advance

NO NO NO!! You DONT pull the panel off... You'll break the clips!you take the screws out of the end of each side, then take the out out of the inside of the door handle, then, pop the plastig ring out of the door handle and there will be another screw hiding under it. Then, the panel slides UP and will come off.
this is what you do i had to do it on my s4, it is not hard you just need a grinder to get the regulator off the window frame. and then a tool to put it back on i for get the name right now but here is the write up, hope it helps.
