Default Winter Mode Questions

I got my 2000 S4 and I'm loving it. It came with fk silverline coilovers and the stock suspension was given to me in a box in the trunk.

Even though I have a feeling that the winter here in New England will be mild this season I'm getting my snow's put on tomorrow morning (plus an alignment) which means I need to either put the stock suspension back on, or raise the coilovers. I'm lazy, so I'm leaning towards just raising the coil overs. So my question is what is the stock ride height for a 2000 s4? Should I raise it above that? what should i raise it to?

I've never adjusted coilovers before anything i should know? How do you get the car to the right ride height? trial and error?

I recall reading in some post that if coil overs are going to be left on for the winter you should put some kind of homemade mixture of wax/oil on them to keep the winter + salt from rusting them frozen. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Thanks guys and gals

Default RE: Winter Mode Questions

wow man, ive got mine lowered and im taking it right off the road. i dont want all the salt n junk gettin in my ride, plus people drive like idiots. but i would say probably take it up an inch. when you get it aligned you can specify to set stock ride height and the alignment tech will have the specs in his computer. im not sure what to tell you about the c/o's. maybe just spray them down with something like penetrating grease.
