Well the S8 is a nice car, it isn't really in the same realm with what he is looking at. Would I take one though? Heck yes. My parents used to have one. 2001. It was nice. And that is a large understatement.

For your bathroom viewing pleasure...the TD06H20G turbo upgrade on my STi was my last major purchase. If anyone is looking for a highly modified STi in damn near perfect condition that'll run low 12's at sea level, let me know. My username on IWSTI.com is Bluestreak. Gotta get it sold before I can look into an S4 or RS-6.

I've already had a couple of offers around $27-$28K...I can email anyone detailed pics. PM me with your email we can chat. Retail Book is around $26-$27K, and with all of the mods I would plan to sell it for what people are offering. I am just on the fence because I have so much time and money invested into the car and it's like giving up a child!

Here are some details from IWSTI.com where I've put a feeler out:

"The car runs and idles perfectly and the Brembo's pads were replaced at 40,000 miles. Proper break-in to 1,000 miles, full synthetic from 3,000 miles on the ODO and I personally change the oil and filter myself with new synthetic religously every 3,000 miles. The car has never spent an evening outside of my garage since new.

I have only had to take it to service once in the entire time I've owned it and that was to replace a faulty alternator at about 10K miles. Not a single solitary issue since and it runs as well as the day I bought it new.

The stock clutch is still going strong without any slipping whatsoever, but I recently purchased an ACT organic clutch that is supposed to hold about 40% more pressure than stock, but still maintain daily driveability. It's sitting in my garage, new in the box ready to be included ifthe rightoffer comes in.

Nearly the entire car from the dash back to the rear bumper has all been dynamat'd. I started tearing out thestockfactory carpet recently in an effort to dynamat the floors in the seating areas and haven't finished, so that is the only thing on the car that needs completion. I still have over 75 sq ft of the mat left, which would be included so the new owner could finish it. I got a quote on new black upgraded carpet and it came to $280 (Actually custom molded kit made for the car) and while I have not purchased it, the new owner can get the carpet re-done for around that price. I am also including brand new authentic STi logo'd black floor mats (still in plastic) to make the carpet upgrade complete.

I recently installed an SS Autochrome FMIC ($600), larger wategate actuator for the 20G, Turbo XS Racing Bypass Valve ($225)had the car retuned by Cobb ($600), so it should be about 350-360WHP at sea level. I upgraded from a Helix TMIC and I was amazed that the SS FMIC doesn't add any noticeable lag and gets high reviews from users on IWSTI and NASIOC. Peak boost comes at about 3,800 rpm and the car pulls hard all the way to redline.

Other recent upgrades include a Jensen dual DIN DVD/CD/MP3/TV system ($700)that includes a true IPOD control interface and a touch screen system with an option for navigation. I have an amp and 10 inch sub($500) in the trunk that keep the weight to a minimum and still puts out nice sound.

Rotora cross drilled and slotted rotors on all 4 corners($600), TDO6H-20G Deadbolt ($1,700) water/oil cooled with fully transferable lifetime rebuild warranty and has less than 5K miles use since new), JEC's/Nismo Injectors ($675-recommended strongly by Cobb as the most consistent injectors they've tuned), Injen WR Intake ($275), Perrin Silicone hoses ($200), Greddy Lip ($400), Clear Bra on Bumper ($375), Full Tint, CF trim thoughout ($450), Kartboy short shifter kit with bushings ($225), Cobb Accessport ($600), Defi BF gauges ($900-Boost, Oil Temp, Water Temp) and control unit, Prodrive 18" PFF-7 wheels ($1,800-have some curb rash from the previous owner I bought them from) BRAND NEW Toyo S4 245 width tires with less than 1,000 miles ($1,100), custom STi door sills ($150), CF door pillar trim ($100), CF hood dampers($150), Turbo XS-RFL-Ti full 3 inch system with 4 inch downpipe ($1,400), Braille battery ($225), irridescent blue film on headlights (rockblocker), Prodrive shift **** ($75), custom black leather boots on shifter and brake lever with red stitching, aluminum undertray to replace factory plastic piece, kartboy hangers, Prodrive springs ($400)and I'm sure I'm still missing some other items."

ORIGINAL: Line Em Up
...Now if i had a choice, i would pick a B5 S4, only because of the potential they have, there small and can be very light. I say invest in a low milage B5 S4, there out there you just have to search...
I don't know about "very light" Line Em Up, but I know what your getting at (remember, we're about 3,800LB stock, and even carbon fiber panels don't do that much...) He absolutley right though: I'd definitely look into a B5 S4. They have way more tuningpotential than the new S4 (for the money)and, and... Well, Ican't really find anything bad to sayabout that RS6, other than the interior is a little beat up and the price is concerningly low. Both cars are awesome, but the B5 S4 platform is probably more up your alley.

And as far as finding a low mileage version is concerned: I just purchased an 2001.5 in December '06 with justa hair over 12k miles on it... Low mileage S4's are out there, you just have to be patient and willing to look (it took meabout 6-8 months to find one,but I was in no rush and was picky ashell!). Granted, you will find out from reading these forums, as I did for months prior to purchasing, that even a 30k, 40k, or 50k mile B5 S4 is usually gonna be a solid buy, I just had my criteria: '01.5, uber low mileage,6MT, sport package, and Pearl, Negaro,or Imola for the color (obviously I had to make a compromise in the end on the color, as I couldn't pass up criteria #2). Bottom line is that the 2.7T is a great engine andusually takes very well to tuning at any mileage.

Anyways, good luck and I can assure you a S/RS model will definitely ease the pain of losing the STi...

The question may have been asked before, but if you had to choose between a 2004 S4 or a 2003 RS-6 and they were only about 12-14 grand apart in price, which model would you choose? Both aretiptronic (flame on!) and have similar miles.
"ONLY ABOUT 12-14 GRAND APART" he says, now that **** is funny[sm=lol.gif]. seriously though, if you got the extra dough, i highly encourage the rs6. out of the two (from what ebay can show), the s4 looks a little better in aesthetic up-keep, but it's only pictures. the rs6 always looks soooo much meaner and yet, distinguished and regal in a badass sort of way. on the down sides, the s4 has wood trim, a mood killer in a small sporty-lux car; it should be aluminum or carbon fiber, or piano black finish (i've only seen in euro s4 03 model). it also has that gay *** mult-function steering wheel that is not much more multi-functional than the three spoke sport grip (new wheel, not the one in the 03 rs6), but still controllable from the center console. the leather wear in the seats on the rs6, forget about it. so what if your fat *** didn't do it, it will still fit, and that look would have happened in the future anyway. if it isn't lumpy or lopsided from the said previous fat ***, it's kosher. the nav that it talks about isn't the newest sys since no screen in the center so it must be the monocromatic thing in the dash. not great, but if you aren't used to nav, it's something and there are always aftermarkets. now to the engine. all the retards saying turbos are a bad thing at high miles; you own an STI? you know about turbos. as for the 4.2, this thing is a monster. i have it in the b7 s4 and since i got the car i drove it like it was stolen. that whole break in crap and turbos ruin the engine are something people hold onto from what daddy said. yes, engines do go bad in some, yes turbos crap out in some, **** happens; but not always. if you want to "grow up" and that's a reason to get rid of the sti, the rs6 still gives some room to enhance your car, but even left -stock- this car is beautiful.whatever you decide on, congrats. both are acceptional cars, but as i said before, if you have the payola, go big on the rs.
