ok. so my car pops up this check engine light from time to time. usually nothing. goes away in a day or 2. ive got a vag-com but for some reason it doesnt want to pull any codes. the other day i was in the driveway and it didnt want to start right away. it took a good few cranks. not a power issue just a turn over issue, no check engine light. then today im coming out of the gym and it starts up fine, but after a few seconds of idle it revs itself up to about 1500 for about a minute then goes back down and the check engine light pops up. then just now as im sitting in the car trying to get the vag-com to work, which i failed at, it doesnt want to start again for a few attempted cranks then when it does crank it barely turns over. 3 start ups after that with no issues. checked the TBB and the DV's. maybe the o2 sensors? my mpg has been a little off lately. if any of yall have suggestions id appreciate any info.

CTS, coolant temp sensor. It went out on my A4 and I had almost the EXACT same problems. Replaced it and everything went away!

They are cheap too from the dealer.

CTS- also happened to me. $20 part at ecs. replace it youself. it's down behind the y-pipe.

 

all right cool, thanks a lot guys. hey just to make sure, if i ever get my vag-com working, what code would that be so i dont end up replacing it if i dont need to.

 

It doesn't throw one... or at least it didn't with me.

if that doesnt work try the throttle postioning sensor
