It's been a long time coming: The AWE Tuning S3 Exhaust Suite is almost ready for launch. I'd like to show you a glimpse behind the scenes of the S3 development process here. We've been busy working on a system that is worthy of the AWE Tuning badge. A few of the happenings as we sprint toward launch:

-One of the first things our engineering team does with every vehicle is the ceremonial scanning with a FaroArm. This gives us the benefit of having explicit dimensional details on hand and lets us ensure proper clearances during the development process. This reveals the domain in which we can craft a sophisticated sound solution and push power gains. Of note, the S3 systems will also flaunt the AWE Tuning Fitment Guarantee.



-On the dyno, proving the power gains. The AWE Tuning AWD Mustang Dyno lets us test, and test some more. We are not satisfied with our system until power goals are reached.



-Our development S3 (but unfortunately not our helicopter), posing for a glamour shot at a "secret" runway. We were not filming for a Michael Bay movie, rather we did some final testing and video production at the runway. It's a great location for us to safely and consistently film. FLAVORS FOR EVERYONE
The S3 Exhaust Suite will be sure to satisfy. We are offering two exhaust editions and two downpipe versions to allow you to choose your ideal system. Our SwitchPath™ Exhaust will be our valved option, providing the best of Touring Edition and Track Edition all in one. We’ll also roll out a Track Edition, which skips the valves and leans toward one end of the spectrum consistently.

Our Performance Downpipe will be offered in both Resonated and Non-Resonated variants to help you further hone your tone. We will incorporate high quality HJS catalysts to increase flow while encouraging power gains. As strong believers in bolt on performance: we're backing our system with a No CEL Guarantee. No codes, no compromises.

Let’s delve a little deeper into the R&D and prototyping process of the AWE Tuning S3 Suite.

What you see below is the result of a FaroArm scanning session, rendered in Geomagic Design X. On the left is the stock exhaust, next to it is the heat shield and exhaust cavity after the subframe. Every application we work with receives a unique treatment to appropriately meet our sound, power, and fitment demands. Translating physical vehicle specs into the digital domain helps us to create a solution that properly fits the vehicle throughout the entire design process.



Below you can see one of our engineers, Bones, documenting fitment of a prototype S3 section for a build book. We use Apple iPads and apps to streamline manufacturing operations, increase production output, and distribute key information within our company. Apple featured us in an “iPad in Business” commercial series, you can watch it below. Notice the beginnings of a jig which we’ll use to ensure perfect fitment on every system.



We’re happy to add S3 to the family of SwitchPath™ systems. You may be familiar with our TT-RS exhaust, and we’ve recently brought our M3/M4 solution to the BMW market to much fanfare. Controlled by a combination of throttle input and engine speed, SwitchPath™ Technology will offer a refined cabin presence while cruising, but an aggressive and exotic exhaust note is waiting to be summoned by your right foot.



Each valve is built in house and assembled by the hands of our fabrication team, here is a valve being completed.
