Quick driveway clip of my exhaust since a lot of people ask about different cat back systems and how they sound. The setup:

1999 A4 30vqm
Magnaflow 14816 muffler (2.5" in, dual 3" tips)
Vibrant perf-core resonator, 2.5" inlet/outlet
Custom catback piping, flared from stock to 2.5" at cat outlet

Just thought I'd give a quick glimpse of how the 30v sounds when the exhaust opens up some. At cruise, it's deep and smooth, a little drone, nothing too bad. Sounds aggressive under load and accelerating, and it pops and burbles in gear on the overrun. Very happy with it, had it on for about 10 months now and I don't regret it a bit. Total cost was about $330 - about $180 for the parts and $150 for a shop to dispose of the factory muffler/resonator/piping, fabricate the new piping, and weld everything up. Well worth it.

I'll see about getting some full throttle fly-by videos to add here.

That sounds really good. Definitely anticipating the fly-by vid!!!! What's up with your parts cost? Everywhere I look they want 200 for the 14816. You wouldn't have a lead on a better price would you?

I'll see if I can find a better deal than that. If I do I'll buzz you with a link. Even at $200, you'll love it. That Vibrant resonator makes all the difference though - it needs to be in there too

Couple years ago you could find the magnaflow street series for 120... crazy how much they went up. I'm open to replacing the resonator, but 300+ for a muffler and resonator leaves me less than enthused... and I want to hear the drive-by first

That $330 was for the components, plus the fabrication of the piping, and install of it all.

Yeah, that's why 200+ for a muffler plus I'm guessing 80 for a resonator, plus shipping... then there's separate piping, fab, installation. Which resonator did you get? Ultra quiet or Standard(bottle) style?
