Hi guys wonder if anyone can help??..I have a Audi 1.8t Quattro 2002,I have a strange noise when starting from cold.it sounds like exhaust manifold is blowing and slight sound of belt screeching only for about a minute then it stops,but it sounds like it switches off rather than slowly get quieter....I was told that it could be EGR just to warm the engine up quicker from cold but it doesn't sound right and it's quite loud.....
anyone have an idea where to start?..much appreciated

 

what exactly do you mean by the ex manifold "blowing"?... belt screeching or possible tensioner/idles bearing noise maybe?

how many miles on the car and ever serviced the egr before?
