I just returned from a 2 week vacation, and on my initial drive of my 2011 Q5 there was a very noticeable vibration coming from my front right wheel. The frequency was once per revolution of the wheel. On inspection, I found the rotor had some marks. These are raised up from the surface of the rotor - I suspect that on each revolution this is striking the pad and causing the vibration. There were no problems before I went on vacation. Was this perhaps there all along, or could it have developed with a couple of weeks of being idle? I can't imagine that I didn't notice this the last time I drove it.
Until I can replace the rotor (in a day or two), is it safe to grind these down?
