Last weekend I was heading over the hill on my way to Portland for the weekend when I noticed a black audi speeding up to catch up with me. He pulled up next to me and we were both doing about 60 mph or so. I dropped into 3rd gear and waited for him to make a move. He punched it then I hit it too, he jumped about 10 feet or so ( my window at his back wheel) then I started gaining and proceeded to pull on him, of course then he let off. About ten miles later we get to a passing lane so once again we line up but this time at about 50 mph or so. This time he totally caught me off guard and took off (putting maybe 1/2 car length between the back of his car and the front of mine) but once again by the top of 3rd gear I had closed the gap and was about to roll past him, when he let off..... I do need to add that I had 3 people in my car and the trunk was so full of bags and junk that the lid barely closed. All in all the car had alot of power but it just couldn't hang with the boost.....

 

2.7 is a traffic light buster and the 4.2 is a cruiser and will kill the 2.7 on top end speed

 

a stock 2.7 hanging with a stock 4.2 in any race i would have problems with. but i dont know how the tranny and the final drive is geared that could make a difference but i dont see it.

 

Thats funny you say that... on audi usa they have the 0-60 times for both the 4.2 and the 2.7T... The 2.7T is the faster of the 2.

 

i guess they set up the trannys different

2.7t hp 250 tq 258

4.2 hp 320 tq 310

the 2.7 torque does come in at lower rpms

but gearing can be everything. good race
