B6 S4 vs. B5 S4
On my way home from work yesterday, I just missed a light on the expressway, and so did a B5 S4 which pulled up next to me. He looked at me and it was on, while waiting for the light, he reved his engine at me, i responded, then a Kawasaki sp? Ninja pulled between us and reved his, it was a three way race, i expected to loose to the bike obviously, but what surprised me was the B5 and I were dead even all the way to 65ish. What kind of mods would make a B5 the same speed as a B6, just a chip or something more? sounded like stock exhaust but maybe it was just a very quiet resonated system?
Lots of B5 S4 guys here that can answer this better than I can...but without looking back at past posts...I believe that all a B5S4 would have to do is chip and exhaust to get on a par for acceleration. But if you want to talk anything other than straight line speed, the B5 would have to add brake upgrade and suspension mods as well.
sounds like a fun time, but the B5 being a twin turbo can put some money into it and be running 11s or even 10s. chip, exhaust, intake, RS4 twin turbos, stuff like that, with the twin turbo it has alot to work with. Also there isnt many mods for the B6 S4 anyways.
B6 is pretty heavy...3600lbs...tends to noseplow (understeer)...but I hear that the B5 has the same characteristic (mostly due to awd).
I did a couple of track days and there were some b5 s4's there that were modded. They were pretty quick. Hard to say if they were quicker, mostly it came down to driver skill.
