I had to do it!
So I've had my '03 A4 (1.8T manual by the way) for about 3 months now and have'nt raced anybody yet until last night. I was coming home from going out with my girl and we were going down a 3 lane city street cruising at about 60 mph. It was midnight and along comes this late 90s model Civic with wheels a bodykit and a fart can and he blows by me going about 70mph. My car is stock still but come on a Civic! My girl says don't do it, its pointless. She used to have a 97 Civic hatch back.
I catch up to him and stay steady with him to initiate and we get stuck ata red light together. Perfect! I wind up my turbo to about 3 grand to avoid the lag. You can hear he's revving to because the fart can was screaming. The green light turns and I bust him out of the light and I was pulling away from him at a ridiculous rate. By 70 mph I was about 7 car lengths ahead of him. I stopped at 80 and here he comes trying to pull everything out of his car. I let him get even with me and I step on it again. He now has an accelerating head start at 80 and I still pull another 3 car lengths ahead and slowed it down at 110 and decided it would be in my best interest to stop this pointless beating. Now he blows by me after I stoped and probably told his friend that he got me in the top end. My girls says to me, "Now do you feel like a man?" I said,"Shut up, I had to teach that guy a lesson and put him in his place." Thought I'd let everybody in on my first race even though it was a lame one.

I think the best way to "teach a lesson"is to go all out to put as much distance as possible between you, then when you are done, get on the brakes.Brake lightsmake it clear that you are done and he did not catch you. People see what they want to see. A ricer especially might have gone home feeling good that he cought you even though you lifted then got back on it. He may be too stupid to realize that. After all, he thinks his civic is fast so we are not talking about a brain sergeon here. On a side note, if your girlfriend does not want you to race while she is in the car, you should respect that. How would you feel if I took you up to 160mph on the street after you asked me not to? Otherwise, good kill. Keep beating on those stupid fart can civics, maybe someday they will get the message.
Ah, sounds like me and a few friends in my 87' 'stang and my friend in his 05 Neon. ALWAYS push the brakes to show that you're done with the race. Cuz I decided to coast after getting buttloads ahead of my friend and he thought he beat me cuz I had a limiter or something.D: And bad thing is that he went around telling people who proceeded to call him stupid and that there was no chance in hell. And it got worse when I had to bust in there and yell out that I was ****** coasting.
Moral of the story, use them brake lights!
