My 2000 A6 2.7t Tip VS RX8
The other night after watching Batman for the second time I was taking my girlfriend home and on the way there we see an RX8 pull up next to us. It was dark silver with Racing Southwest (RSW) stickers on it and even a number which was 258, I guess from him taking it to a track recently, this actually made it even sweeter. And the best part is my girl was like aww look at that car! There were two tools in it probably 17 or 18. After a block or so they got the picture that I was down to race. So we raced probably 5 to 7 times. Keep in mind this was at like 1 am and the streets were dead, I don't like to take too big of chances. Anyways, I walked it from a roll every time with ease, usually from about 20-30 which is my sweet spot. Finally we find ourselves at a stoplight, and I didnt think he was gonna go because he had already lost. To my surprise he launched! With a small burn out and everything. So me and my girl in my Tip Audi were already 2 to 3 cars behind, I just gunned it and by the time I reached 100mph I was barely passing him, when I was a car length ahead I shut down and the look on their faces were PRICELESS as I passed them smiling! I can't believe my car had it in it especially considering the magazine numbers for manual RX8's 0-60 is like 5.9...Anyways by far the best race of my life and not to mention the fastest car I have ever beaten. Moral of the story, 8 year old sedan with nearly 100k miles in completely stock form prevailed over Mazda's "legendary" rotary powered turd.

very very nice race buddy but either that kid can't drive or something is wrong with his car.. you would have deff had him from a launch if you would know he was gonna race... Tip=foot break launch which means boost already built when you take off... no lag like in a manual

Thanks for the tip on launching derek, I'll have to try that! Will that work with Quattro and everything? I remember reading in Road and Track that the RX8 had little to no power under like 3-4k rpm and thats definitly true. Back a couple of years ago when my brother was in the market for a car a local dealershp that he has purchased over 3 cars from let us romp in an '04 RX8 and it was a 6 speed and just barely faster than his v6 accord...we weren't impressed. Honestly, I don't even think he was a bad driver I just think that his car was slow, it was definitly stock, well other than the racing stickers...they didn't help it much haha

yes quattro is the best thing to do it with case you can have power right off the line and not break the tires loose... just hold the brake as hard as you can then push the gas pedal till you feel the car start to pull away and hold it there.... when the light turns green release the brake and floor it. it will take off like you have never felt b4

Damn dude I am out of town and wont be back in the Audi till Sunday, I can't wait to try that!!! The weakest point in my powerband is definitly 0-2000 rpm, if I could help speed up the spooling process that would be amazing.

That's brilliant, its the fast way to destroy a tranny. Almost as genious as doing a neutral drop. At least if he had a Level 10 Torque converter, it would be less dangerous for the tranny.
I would not suggest to do this in any situation. Unless you have too much money and nothing better to do with.
