Default Weight reduction

So it looks like no one uses this forum, which really sucks for me because I am all about racing, whether it be my new Audi A4, or my old Ford Probe that went 11's.....

Today I am taking my car to the track to see what it can do, basically stock, with some easy weight reduction.

Mods are simple- K&N Intake Filter, with revised intake tube in fender, and a Test Pipe with spark plug fouler mod as to keep the ECU happy.

WEIGHT REDUCTION:
Audi Owners Manual- 2lbs
Catalytic converter-8.5lbs, Test Pipe-3lbs: Difference 5.5lbs
Floor Mats-4.5lbs
Spare Tire Access Panel-6.5lbs
Full Size Spare-48.5lbs
Jack and Tools-5lbs
Baby Car Seat Brackets-3.5lbs
Rear Seat Backing-59.5lbs
Rear Seat Bottom-13lbs
Passenger Seat-67.5lbs

All this brought the car down by 215.5lbs!!!! That is a pretty substantial weight loss!

So My plan is to best what the car can do from the factory, but my car does have 74,000miles on it, so we will see.

Stock times are said to be 0-100kph(62mph) of 7.3 seconds and a 1/4 mile of 15.0(this data is kinda hard to find, so I don't know if its accurate.

I am shooting for 14.5 in the quarter. I am shooting low, but I always love a challange!!

Thanks for looking, and I will update with times and video if I can get it.

Well just got back from the Track, and I am Extremely happy with how the car ran. The best 60ft was only a 2.19, which is horrible for an awd car, but with the ecu not allowing the car to be in boost on the start line, it makes it kinda hard!

Here are the times

I will get the one video uploaded, but you cant really make anything out in it. Overall I was really happy with how the car ran for not having a tune yet. If a tune will allow me to launch with boost I would easily see a 1.8 1.9 60' and with the extra power I am sure I could pull off a 13.5 or 13.6 best case senario....

Again, Thanks for looking guys!

Here is the video. Had a buddy record it, my camera sucks, and he didn't zoom, but this was my third run, it was a 14.7@94. For some reason Streetfire wont let me upload my timeslips, so I will have to do that somewhere else....

You have at least me paying attention to you. Keep the updates coming. Do you track often? Just asking cuz your reaction times seem a little "all over the place". Not a criticism, just wondering.

ha ha ha, yes I normally drag race my street cars often, but this year I have only been to the track three times.

The reason I was all over the place with reaction times is because I am trying to get the car to launch correctly, so I don't really care if I cut a good light. My best time with this car was when i was over a second late on the tree, because I was more concentrated on what my feet were doing, as well as the boost levels.....

I need to find out if there is a way to get the car in boost for the launch, because being awd I should at least be able to cut a 1.8 60'.

I did finally get my slips to post, had to make a photobucket account, so here they are.

Thanks for the response!'

Also if anyone is interested in how to keep a test pipe from throwing a CEL, this is probably the easiest way:

I'm watching this thread too. I'm more into track racing, but the engine building and weight reduction keep my attention.

I don't think you could get any boost under 60' without running a bang bang or some type of anti-lag system. The 4 cylinder doesn't push enough air to spool the turbo that quickly. As a future mod, I wouldn't if you could bore and stroke the engine to 2.2L

the motor produces plenty of air to produce boost at stand still, any motor does, my issue is the computer won't allow me to boost on the line, probably as a safety feature to keep people from blowing the turbo, because yes, anti-lag isn't nice on the turbo. I used to launch my evo off the two step at 6000rpm, and that built 12-15psi on the line. I just want enough torque to get my pig of a car off the line for a good 60'. If I could cut a 1.8 60', this car would already have a 13.XX timeslip.

well if its anything like it is on the 2.7, first gear is so short that the engine doesn't produce boost because it makes enough naturally aspirated power to propel the car. Boost only accumulates if the turbo pushes more air then the engine can use... I'm just not convinced the ECU holds open the wastegate when not moving.

The engine produces boost in first gear, even full boost at that, I have a boost gauge installed and watch it peak in 1st gear.... I am pretty sure the comp does in fact control the wastegate to not allow the car to produce boost.
