Default JUST SPRINGS...HOPEFULLY

I have a A4 1.8T Quattro and I'm looking to lower the car for appearance and performance. Now I read on a post that the red paint alongside the "1.8T" badge is because my model has the sport package. If this is true will I be able to only replace the springs and not the shocks without losing the shocks in the long run since they are part of the sport package. I know the right thing to do is to change both, but I don't want to spend the extra money if it was not necessary.

Do you have a 2001? The red T was given to the engines with 170 hp. You can tell if you have sport suspension by looking at the color of the shocks. Red is sport, black is nonsport. You should replace them regardless. They will wear out very soon after adding lowering springs. Then you'll be stuck changing them out and paying for a second alignment. Don't cheap out.

Yeah I figured I should change both I was just checking. Now I think I'm going with the Eibach sportline kit, what do you think? I heard they wear out quick.

Yeah I do have the red ones. I have 50,000 miles and I spoke with a couple of people who just replaced the springs and their doing fine.
