E-Bay VAGCOM - Dependable?

I'm looking around and found a few VAGCOM + software on e-bay for 10 bucks.

I have a 2000 TT.

Has anyone had experience with this? Would it be as reliable?

The ebay cables are way too un-predictable IMO, ive heard of too many people on this forum having trouble communicating with the car with those cables. Don't go cheap with these, order it from ross tech

Yeah I 2nd that. I got an Ebay cable followed the instructions and it was a no go.
I purchased the vag com cable the nexr day. With this dont go cheap.

Someone on here bought an eBay cable for $30 and a VAG COM license from Ross Tech for $100 and it worked perfect. I believe it was MeanAudiA6? Anyway, that saves you $120 over the Ross-Tech package...

I think with eBay cables you have to get a specific kind. Hopefully A6 will stroll over into this thread...
