Ok, I purchased a OBD11 interface usb cable. downloaded vagcom 409.1 from the vagcom site. I loaded the usb driver as instructed on the vagcom site. When i open vagcom and tick the usb button and then test. It returns the following, port OK , no interface found. Can anyone help please

 

Is your key turned to the ON position (without engine running)?

 

change the port to coms 3

 

that a serial port, will it run on com 3

 

try it and see

 

on com3 i get the following port OK, Interface found, Type, serial pass through, ross Tech No.
So it looks like its working. When i plug it into the car it seems to keep trying to access controllers but cant, i have the ingnition on. I have an audi, A4 2002 1.8T

 

I plugged into the car and if i do a compatabilty test it says my car is not OBD11 Compliant . Please can someone give me any ideas, I undedrstood the car should be , Its a 2002 1.8T avent

 

chances are the software is too old for your car as yours is CAN which is also OBD II combined ( much newer ones like 2008 will be CAN only ) CAN = control area network or high speed data transfer

 

I have 409.1 which one do i need and will my cable work. its a usb interface. thank you for your help

not 100% if 409.1 is CAN related it has to be HEX type and never did like the USB cable type as it could be you dont have the software/driver to run it that's why serial is best because its set to coms port 1 as standard and less problems
