hey guys i bought a thirdparty vagcom cable off ebal, the part was from the US and not japan. I cant get it to be recognized by lemminwiks or the trial ross tech software. The green light turns on, on the cable when plugged, but doesnt recognise in the software, but the computer says the cable is connected.

 

Is it USB? A lot of people have problems with the USB ones. The serial ones work really well, though. I had gotten a USB one and I had the same issues as you did. Serial works 100% for me.

 

its the usb one, but my laptop doesnt have a serial input.

 

Then you're SOL. Tough luck

 

Let me find the old thread about getting the correct USB drivers. Gimme a bit.

That should cure your problems. You also might want to make sure once you have the drivers that you are connecting to an open COM port.

 

No serial port on the laptop? Isn't that what you'd use to connect to a printer?

 

No, that's an LPT port. The serial port is 9-pin

 

you need to make sure you have the correct com port selected. between 1-4. once you do that, go into the config for vag-com and it should allow you to select the correct com port. do not select USB.

as far as lemmiwinks, the com port selector is on the upper left portion.

Maybe laptops 10 years ago. Most printers now are USB.
