I'm looking to buy a 2000 S4 that is kinda local to me. The thing is I don't know which shop or dealer to take it to to have it checked out before I buy it. The seller says they will gather paper work, which to me means that they haven't really serviced the car much(hope I'm wrong). I'm new to Audi's so any help will be great. I have read on the forums for trouble spots, but I think a good mechanic is needed for the job. Thanks

 

Step 1 Call Audi with the Vin number and ask them to pull the service records, Audi keeps a database with every single car and what Audi has done to it.

 

. After that pay the 20 dollars and run car fax. step 3 take it to a trusted mechanic and have them do there 3 million point inspection to make sure everything is sound. from there just go off your feeling and what you think is best

I will do the Vin with Audi dealer and for sure carfax. The mechanic part is what I'm not sure about, I haven't owned a VW or Audi so I don't know who is good? I've only had new cars and none of them gave me problems.
