Default Getting new rims. Which Tires?

Getting new rims. Going with the s5 rims. 18x8.5 45mm offset. Going to get tires in this size 235/40-18. The Only problem is I can't figure out which tires to get. I want something with performance and that's all season. I'm in central illinois and I've heard continental crosstraks dws are a good choice, but i hear they wear out real fast? Any recommendations?

The DWS is a nice choice if most of your driving is casual, to and from work kind of stuff. Although it is a high performance tire (ultra high at Tire Rack) the softer sidewall provide a cushier ride than other tires in the same category like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+, Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position, and Yokohama Avid Envigor. The smoother ride is nice, but consequently it doesn't feel as sporty and won't perform as well as the others when you are driving in a spirited way.

Regardless, it is a good blend of desirable features at a very good cost. I enjoyed having them on my A4 but eventually opted for a more premium brand and performance.

Ended up with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+.

Got just about 50k out of the Conti's with regular rotation and proper tire pressure. I was very happy with them for but prefer the responsiveness of the Michelin's.
