So I purchased a used Audi A3 2010, a few weeks ago... and I took it to a shop to get it checked out, everything came back good apart from the tires which there were 4 different tires on the car which the guy at the shop said was a problem.

I was just wondering if anyone has come across the same issue here?

Also im a first Audi owner! Love it!

The gentleman at the shop is correct. When you have mismatched tires they can create an imbalance in the car. In additional to strange road noise you may experience strange handling and response as the tires do not match. The best way to think of it is like this, you wear the same shoes on both feet for the most comfort. If you wore 2 different shoes you would feel off balance or not as comfortable. It's the same with tires on your car. Let me know if you have additional questions or would like to get your tires replaced, I can certainly make some suggestions.

 

I had a similar problem with road noise. Take the following steps:
1. 4 wheel alignment
2. Balance tires.
3. Use all the same type of tires.
4. rotate tires until noise gets less.
5. replace tires

 

check inflation pressure. for extra load tires, use 38 psi 18 inch rims. Add 1 psi for each increase in rim diameter. Over inflated tires make more noise
