Hard to respond considering you didn't list your model/year (and thereby stock configuration), whether you have any suspension mod's, etc. Also what your expectations may be - show or go?

Sorry new to this. I have a 2005 A6 AWD lowered on H&R springs. And I'm just going for show.

It appears (Tirerack.com) that your stock are:

17x7.5
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.82"
Bolt Pattern: 5-112
Rec. Tire Size:245/45-17

-or- 18x8
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.82" Bolt Pattern: 5-112
Rec. Tire Size:245/40-18

As you're lowered (how much?) you'll have to consider lower [sidewall] profile tires the larger the wheel you select, to prevent rubbing. You'll also have to consider offset and/or "roll" your wheel well lips depending how aggressive you go. The higher the positive offset number the more "tucked in" the wheel is, but for 'show' you want a lower number so the rims are more flush with the outside of the fender.

btw: another option is to go with [less expensive] standard wheels and use spacers. http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-C6_A6-...heels/Spacers/
