Default Sidewall damage with 18" wheels

I have a 2015 A3 sedan with 18" wheels and Continental ProContact TX tires. In the past 4 weeks I have replaced the right front tire 4 times due to sidewall blowouts from road damage. I can't go on like this. Is there a better tire to avoid the damage, or is moving to 17" wheels a better idea. I am not in love with 18", it's just what the car came with. My A4 with 17" and Conti ExtremeContact DWS tires has never had this problem.

Any suggestions?

Mac

Hi mac,
You should go for 225/45 R 17.... Better option than 18 inch
