Default Wife's TT

Wife has a 2010 TT. I need to replace her summer tires. We currently have Pirelli's 245/40ZR18.
Now I am going to insult some people in the forum. My wife bought this car because it is pretty...and that is the only reason. She doesn't corner like it's a sports car or drive it like it's a sports car...she drives like an old lady. I am now in charge of buying her new summer tires and she would like a softer and quieter riding tire.

Can I go to 245/50 R18's without issue...or any and all help would be appreciated.
Again performance is not important.
Comfort
Quiet
Long tread wear (important to me).

Thanks

I'm not sure if getting a taller tire would have that much advantage, unless it is significantly cheaper for some reason. Really the compound would make the biggest difference. Why do you think she needs a summer tire? Based on the way you described her driving, an all season would be perfect - something in the 500 treadwear range. I had a set of 245/40/18 michelin pilot sport a/s plus' and those were great all around tires for dry/wet/light snow traction and they didn't seem to wear at all. All seasons should be less expensive than any high/ultra/extreme summer tire as well.

Default all season

We have winter tires for the TT that are 17" with a taller sidewall. My wife prefers those tires as they are a softer ride.

So you are saying a good all season tire will help smooth the ride?
