I bought my car for $600 because it needed a valve job. The engine was disassembled, and fortunately I found a used engine locally for $350! I installed the used engine since it was cheaper than to do a valve job on the damaged engine. Installed my new/used engine and for less than $1000 I have my realistic dream car.
