Default Rear Brakes

Ok... so I picked up my car last night in Atlanta (it was in transit from Korea).
Anyhow, while driving I noticed my rear brakes are getting weak. I'm replacing the rotors and pads for the rear and the pads for the front... does the TT have a special tool required to re-compress the rear calipers once the pads have been removed?

2001 TT 225 Quattro Coupe

**Edit** I've been using the EBC Red Stuff pads on the front for a few years now... anyone know of any other pads worth trying?

I used "Hawk - Ceramic Brake Pads - Front w/ wear sensor - TT 180 225" on my tt and they are good. No dust, no noise, no stopping problems. You DO need a special tool to do the rear brakes. You can buy it from ttstuff.com or harborfreight (cheeper). Its $20-$30 for the tool and you can use it on non-audi cars to do brake jobs too.

is the special Rear Caliper tool just a socket with two nubs across from each other? (you fit the nubs into holes on the piston and then you push and turn the piston to re-compress)

You are correct.

autozone carries them that you just have to pay like $50 for a deposit. You get it back when you bring the tool back.

The rears dont do as much, i picked up some mintex red box with ATE rotors. Works fine for me and well with my wilwood fronts.

If I could offer any tip is that you need to get a slightly thinner 15mm wrench. It's just a bit snug with the standard one. Hope that helps.

Well I have all Snap-On tools (typically thinner and lighter in weight than average), but I'll shave the walls down if i have to.
