06 A6 Replacement Keys
I just bought a used 06 A6 which only came with one key fob and a valet key. I purchased 2 used keys with new blades from eBay for a pretty good deal after reading all the threads about reprogramming them. Now, I'm being told that the fob can be programmed to open the car, but not start it. I can't find anything online about this. Can someone please shed some light on this problem? The place I called is an authorized Audi key provider that I found from their list online. The guy is saying that he's never been able to get the transponder reprogrammed on a used key. He said he'd try again but I don't want to pay the price if it's impossible. Any help would be awesome.
I am afraid that you may have wasted your money on e-bay. With the C6 if you want the key to start the car you are pretty much stuck with the dealer. Please keep in mind that the C6 is a completely different animal than the C5s that make up 90% of the members on this forum.
That's what I was afraid of. I called the dealer that I bought the car from and he said I could get one at his cost which is somewhere between $123 and $163 (can't remember the number he gave me). He said that it includes the programming, but I'm not so sure. It sounds too cheap.
Being that I'm completely new to Audis...what's the C5 and C6?
