APR or REVO Stage 1 ECU Re-Flash
Any opinions or experiences on the APR or REVO Stage ecu software upgrades on a B7 Quattro 2.0T?
I to0k the 5 hour trial of the REVO software and noticed minimal improvements a couple of days ago.

I noticed very decent gains when I had tested the REVO on my A4. My car is a CVT so any gains are huge with that pig. Honestly your ECU does need a few days to adapt so your results may vary on that.
I run the APR program on my GTI now at stage 2. Honestly I thought stage 1 was not too impressive. It did feel faster after a few days. The car gained massive power once I got a catless Downpipe and upgraded to stage 2. The car is soo nice to drive now.
I would definatly recommend at least a stage 2 program to get your car moving. A4's are heavy cars. Both companies are excellent and I would say get a flash from whoever is closest and convenient to you. That way if you want to upgrade to the next stage or you lose the flash by accident you can easily get it back. I like APR as it has ability to switch between multiple programs using the cruise control stalk and has a lock out feature with pin to keep nosey mechanics out.

Here is a 3 inch testpipe super cheap. There are 2.5 ones on Ebay as well. I'd get the 3 inch and go straight to stage 2. You would not regret it one bit and again either company would be great.
I have had excellent experiences with Ebay Downpipes.

Thanks Kris, I think you are right going straight to Stage 2, I have a local REVO installer but will look for a local APR installer and see if I can trial that. Worse case, I will go stage 2 with the REVO and bigger downpipe.
Honestly i would not waste your time getting an APR trial. The HP is so close on both that you won't notice much if at all. By the time your ECU adapts, the trial is over.
Again if APR is closer get that one or vise versa. You will enjoy either's stage 2 very much so. If you are willing to shell out another $500 + for a new fuel pump you can go stage 2 plus with both companies and would be good for another 15-20 hp with alot more on the upper RPM band. The Fuel Pump is required for that though. If you can afford it, that is the best route. You can always save up and add that later though as every reflash is free or at a maximum a small service fee from your local shop.
I like the APR cruise stalk switching ability but Revo has a switch box to change programs as well. That way you can get multiple programs. Low octane 87 or 89 for economy low power but still better hp than stock, 91/93 premium program or a 100+ race gas program for those track days. That is a sick program. If you buy APR wait until their sale they do a few times a year for a multi-program ECU for like 600. REVO is usually $100 CHEAPER FOR THEIR STUFF.
Get it and enjoy it. You will think you have a new car but at least go stage 2 if not 2 plus.
I would also recommend doing the PCV and Diverter valve or they will surely blow. See sticky up top for tips.

I just had the APR 91 tune done about 700km ago. its not a HUGE difference but it is quite noticeable. gas milage is less but i just can't keep my foot out of it. spools a bit quicker now too. no mods done just stock with tune.
I just got the APR stage 2 flash for my audi today (3-18-2010). As soon as I added the octane booster and allowed it to mix with my fuel I immediately felt the extra 41 horse power and 292 lbs of torque. It was worth the money and was the best up grade for my car I have gotten up to this point. I also purchased a forge diverter valve. It is a good idea for you to do the same bc the stock diverter valve in your car is going to blow at some point. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for the great feedback, I probably will get my local REVO installer to do the stage 2 chip reflash, and install the diverter valve & PCV. Any recommendations on where to buy online the PCV & diverter valve? Also, what are the thoughts on the STASIS exhaust system? They are on sale direct for $999
read the sticky up top for lots of info including this.
