Ok, Is it worth having your turbo ported, polish and clipped(compressor wheel), vs. paying 1700 for the total ko4 and software. With the ko3 you could keep your old software also, right?

View Full Version : Ko4 or ko3 ported, polished and clipped audiboy1618 08-23-2004, 04:53 AM Ok, Is it worth having your turbo ported, polish and clipped(compressor wheel), vs. paying 1700 for the total ko4 and software. With the ko3 you could keep your old software also, right? Doose 08-23-2004, 11:37 PM I woould think you'd need software either way. Your getting more air through in both cases, which will require more fuel in order not to run lean. The fuel mapping portion of the chip would address that. Have you seen these two options compared anywhere? It's be interesting to see what kind of hp each would render. David_K 08-24-2004, 08:38 PM A comparrison would be nice. BUt porting and polishing and clipping the exhaust wheel, is an unconventional "Audi" way of gaining horsepower. ANALOGY: KO4 ---> CHipped ecu AS P+P+C KO3 ---> Boost controller + fuel computer Me, being the cheap bastard that i am, would rather Port and clip my KO3 then spend some money and get a KO4. I would rather buy a boost controller and fuel computer than have the tried and true security of a very well researched and tested, ecu upgrade. audiboy1618 08-26-2004, 11:22 PM So your running 12.59s without a chip? David_K 08-27-2004, 07:45 PM I use a boost controller and a stand alone fuel computer ImolaS4 09-04-2004, 07:38 AM Just an FYI: With a turbo upgrade you will need new management software. audiboy1618 09-07-2004, 01:37 AM geez, so much for a little big compressor wheel.... is it worth it? David_K 09-07-2004, 02:24 AM Thats for you to decided. greenday 01-06-2005, 06:34 PM do apexi SAFCs work on these cars? thats what i was using to control my honda(that and i was experimenting with uberdata) if these work on audis then i could probibly figure out how to run what we call an safc hack, basically using some weird settings to allow the factory computer to control bigger injectors, which in term allows for boost, or in audis case more of it. David_K 01-10-2005, 12:47 AM yeah but there a pain in the ass tank8970 11-28-2005, 01:33 AM in the long run u will be able to hold more power safer with the ko4 |
