I have a 2001 A6 2.7T, I was looking into getting a GIAC chip but was wondering if that would kill the life of my engine, I guess adding stress to it and killing the overall car's life. Lastly, if that was the only thing I did to it would that be fine or does the exhaust need to be done as well as other engine work? Please leave feedback...

The only advice I could give was not to chip but get it remapped. There is a place near Oxford which is relly good. AMD techniks. Have a look at their website and give them a ring. They know their stuff.

remapping to getting a "chip" ...flashing the ECU !! IF you want more power get an exhaust you don't have to do it though! The life of the engine will not be reduced unless you're racing it all around, really pushing it all the time...chipping your ECU will allow the car to run smoother (more efficient), so as long as you aren't trying to kill it..you'll be fine

I just had the APR programming flashed this past weekend and all I have to say is WOW. Huge difference, you definetly have to get it done. Worth every penny. As far as engine life.... as long as you don't push it all the time and let the turbos warm up/cool down, you should be fine...
