I've been searching some of the threads and have come across some posts that seem to indicate that the 1.8T Tip cars don't take well to a chip.Some of the posts seem to indicate that the power gains are negated by the Tip gearbox. I was looking forward to chipping the 03' Avant I am getting this week. Can anyone weigh in on this?

If you want to mod the s***t out of your car, get a manual. But if you want to get better everyday power, then deffinetly get it.

yeah dude i have an '03 A4 1.8T tip and i am scheduled to get it chipped tuesday afternoon. i will let you know what i think.

 

your shifts will still be slow unless you get a chip for your tranny as well, but your engine will be putting out lots more power, so its still definitely worth it

 

There is no tranny chip for the B6, that is only the B5.
You can use Vagcom to modify the way your tranny behaves. do a search and you will find a few threads on it.

and yes the chip is worth it.

 

its worth every cent, i have one and it is amazing... get the chip. Ive never heard of problems as a result of the chip though

No, the Avant will be replacing the 3.0 sedan. I wanted a wagon and something that was a little better on gas. I'm going to miss the power of the 3.0 if I can't chip this. I've been reading that the B6 Tip cars don't like to be chipped.
