2.7T motor
We just bought a 2.7T A6. From what i gather it's the same motor in the same year S4's. I figured the people in the S forum may be more helpful then the A6 forum (no offense to my own kind).
I just wanted to know a little about the motor. I have been looking around on the internet and i have yet to find a site that goes into detail about the motor's specs (things like how long it has been in production, does it have anything crazy like balance shafts, ect.)
I also wanted to know how reliable it is, and about how many miles they usually can get on them before that die (properly taken care of) If there are any odd little things about them please feel free to post them, i have lots of learning to do with this car. This weekend i will be changing out all the fluids and filters, let me know if there are any perfrred products (I usually just go with Mobil1 in my other cars)
I appreciate the help!

If you're not familiar with this forum, please click the START HERE!link. There you will find a forum vocab list, an Audi forum terminology list and an Audi lexicon list. They should be very helpful to you if you're not familiar with the jargon.
Please feel free to ask any question, but double check the archives first. Many questions have been archived and, quite often, the answers are comprehensive.

Your concerns are valid. There is a lot to know about the 2.7t engine. First of all, check the archives because much of what you are asking about has been covered quite extensively. In short: Yes, do the changes frequently with Mobil One. Get the coolant sensor switch replaced with the new upgraded OE replacement from Audi (it costs about $5 and you can do the install yourself), then get upgraded DV's for the turbos. The TBB should be replaced with an upgrade or at least a new OE part because they degrade easily. If you're not into modding the engine, then that's the minimum you'll need to do for peace of mind. You might want to invest in a boost gauge and/or a VAG-COM to help monitor your engine and turbos . The VAG is an extremely useful tool - I think it's the best investment you can make, dollar for dollar, and, for the extensive amount of info it provides, you quite often know more about your car's diagnostics than the mechanic!
