Default All Motor

Alright first off the name is Fastharry, an mods if you read this you should fix it.
Anyway I am a student at Uti an happen to be very intellegent in the field of cars.
I drive a 96 a4Q and i love the torque the car puts out and i want more. Iv done all the research an realied it was stupid to buy this car, but nothin is better than rippin a civic off the line an watchin him hope to catch up, lol. So since no SC and allmost pointless the turbo, an a good 7-10K for the s4 swap, im going all motor.
My plan is to port an polish the heads, which will flow prolly about twice as better as from what ive seen after porting other heads. Will also do the same with the upper anlower intake manifolds, this will all be flow matched thanks to the cool sh*t at school.
Lower end will be consitsted of forged pistons and either forged rods or will have them hardend, the crankshaft is prolly already forged so that should be no problem. Im not sure of all of this because i have not torn the motor apart yet. But high quality car meas high quality parts, hince the forged stuff.
I need a motor an tranny, someoe help me

sell the car and buy a 1.8t... then start playing...they sell short blocks with forged everything and would rev to an insane 9k and u can pretty much put w.e size turbo u want and then u'll be racing more than civics... it all depends with the budget ur working with....

Honestly I think you should get 1.8t. You have access to tools and equipment but the work your gonna put into this project won't be worth it. With a 1.8T you can strengthen the block and put on a big turbo with money to spare. If you're gonna keep the car then a SC would be the best/only worthy option.

interesting idea, but i wouldn't do it. you would spend a lot of money for not so big gains. you could definitely turbo it tho, and since your droppin in forged internals, you might as well have some sort of forced induction.

and for the price of a 1.8T swap, you could do a vr6 swap and have even more power, so dont swap a 1.8 in there

u know what, ima be the devils advocate to these guys. i say go for it. everyone here goes straight to boost for power. i know its an efficient and easy way to get power, but it isnt the only way. I think most people are jsut too scared and dont have the time/skill/tools to doa job such as this.

i may jsut be old fashioned, but i was so used to the idea of tearing apart an engine nd builting it, blueprinting it, balancing it, that it took me a while to get used to how things go here.

so i say give it a shot, i would like to see something new and out of the ordinary tried on here rather than the same old "more boost more boost more power more power!!!" idea that is oh so common

^^the 12v 2.8 motor is NOTHING close to capable of making big power. horrible head flow. even after P&P. there is no Vtec from audi. so all motor is just not an option..

and there is no point in forced induction. either custom supercharger, or custom turbocharged and stand-alone EMS.. the 12v/30v block will not handle it. even with forged rods/pistons/lower CR/etc... the block is aluminum and only has 2 bolt mains(as opposed to the 4 bolt mainsand iron block that comes in the 2.7t motor found in the B5 S4/RS4..

forget making big(or any really) power out of the 12v. swap in either a 2.7t, VR6, or even a 1.8t..

well guys, going with the 1.8 is just not me not enought tourqe but the boost would be cool, me buddy has one an we play all the time, usally its a good close race.
For you guys say that its not worth it, its prolly cheaper than doin a S4 swap, or buyin 1.8. Porting the heads alone will be an easy 30-50 ponies maybe even more than that and thats only like2 weeks worth of work, then with a bigger cam , an higher compression with the milled head and bord .20 over (the limit), the higher air flow means higher redline. parts are only gonna be $1500 at the most. An all work done by me so theres no cost. i dont expect to make more than 100 ponies on motor, but the extra 50 or more with N2O so ill prolly rebuild the tranny with some harder synchros, and shouldnt have to worry about the 2 bolt mains, plus they do make conversion kits, but id rather not drill into the block. It will cost a few grand total an hopin for abou 280whp.
I will have to go stand alone to and wiht fine tuing i hope i can hit the 300 mark.
You guys gotta look at it like a chevy small block cuz thats basically what it is, they got 2valves per head and can make good numbers .
I do need more info on the motor itself and if anyone can tell where i can find some, and if someone knows where i find a decent cheap motor that would be helpful to.
thanks and let me know what you guys think
