If one of the buttons on the unit is sticky or stuck, that can freeze everything so when you try to press another button, nothing works. Like my vent buttons are sticky and if i press one and it gets stuck, my heat may be stuck on 77 blowing full blast and i cant do a damn thing about it till that vent button gets un stuck. the hvac control unit in 99.5-02's are a pita and the buttons are stupid. a lot of people dont realize though that if they press the "auto" button, its going to automatically do what it has to do to get the desired temp which means increasing the fan speed etc and they think their **** is posessed.
