So I'm looking into getting a 2001.5 S4 (I think they're awesome) and was wondering if you knowledgeable folks could offer some advice.

I like the s4 I recently checked out, but it had a few issues:

Steering wasn't terribly 'tight' and made a little squeak when the wheel was turned, owner said audi checked it out and it's 'normal', is this a common issue? (needs bolt tighted, replaced or?)

The console made a whine after being on for awhile, sounded like a fan going bad or a capacitor on the fritz, is this common and if so what is the fix like?

What would be a good price for an otherwise clean 2001.5 s4 with 70k miles (newer wheels, tires, cold weather package, auto ) ?

The steering is not all that "tight" but more then likly the car needs new TRE (tie rod ends)
it's a common go bad part in that milage.

Not sure what sound you are talking about. The only console noise is the HVAC fan, IMHO it's loud.

Has the TB been done yet? It's going to need it soon, that's a $1000 job.

Price, well, for a clean car, any where from $16,000-20,000

And by TB I guess you mean timing belt, if so it's already been done.

 

TRE's are about $100 & you will need to get a wheel alignment done after.
