Default Help on purchase decesion

I am looking for a 1999 or 2000 A8 (Approx 50,000 miles). Can somebody give some details on the maintaince and reliability on these cars.
Which year should I be looking; 1999 or 2000 and what are the specific areas I should be looking at while selecting the cars.

My wife want a BMW 740 though. Do you thing A8 is a better choise?

Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks

Asking US which is better, an A8 or a B-M-Trouble-U, is kinda like asking the barber is you need a haircut, my friend.

Newer is almost always better, all else being equal (price, mileage, optional accessories, etc).

Maintaince on ANY Cherr-mun car is gonna cost ya yer eye-teeth, REGARDLESS of which country you live in. Might wanna start a seperate account, BMW or Audi.

Objectively, I'd say it depends primairly on three factors. 1. How pretentious you are (Audi lets you slide under the RADAR and be snobby w/o being snooty about it). 2. Do you live in the snowbelt or the sunbelt (the further north, the more you're gonna appreciate ALL-WHEEL-GRIP; BTW, go for the Quattro or you're OFF my x-mass list). 3. How convincingly you can run the two previous arguments past your wife, unless, of course, YOU'RE the one that wears the pants in your household (unlikely, but possible).

BMW has the old out dated styling and very ugly interior way over priced for what you are getting in my opinion you will be able to find a 99-2000 A8 for a lot cheaper and twice the car and yes Quattro is a much I know in the earilier years some A8's you could get with out them but I have yet to see one with out it the A8 along with the 7 series are going to be expensive to maintain so just make sure you get either car checked out by either a Audi dealer or BMW dealer before you buy something
